Eight years have passed since Laura Bush declared that "because of our recent military gains, women are no longer imprisoned in their homes" in Afghanistan. For eight years, that claim has been a lie.
The truth is that American military escalation will not liberate the women of Afghanistan. Instead, the hardships of war take a disproportionate toll on women and their families. There are 1,000 displaced families in a Kabul refugee camp, and they're suffering for lack of food and blankets. A few weeks ago, you generously gave $6,000 to help and $9,000 more is needed to take care of all 1,000 families. Thats a donation of $15 per family to provide the relief necessary for their survival.

its a sad, sad world. afghanistan, u.s., iraq, russia, china. i dont care. we all suck, because if we didnt, there would be no reason for this video whatsoever. no war, and all humans would have the rights they deserve. .

@doctorw2 Islam didnt subject them to animals. If you read the quran you will not find anywhere saying that women should be treated this way, that they shouldn't have rights and that they should wear burqas, these are all extremists hungary for power. Educate your self before you say something as bold as that. I'm not a religious person at all but there are many countries that consist of mainly muslims that are living in peace and harmony. Its a globalized world, you should know more than that.

Looking back in histories of countries with equal women rights, we can see the present afghanistan. Don't get me wrong, but matters such as women rights, religious extremism, racism, take very long to improve. A proper judgment could be made 40 years from now. I acknowledge that things don't necessarily have to go worst than before improving, but most times thats the case.
I would love to see a report comparing raps in India's capital new Delhi vs Kabul.

I don't see only the recent results. Women are victims in every place where war exists. Afghanistan is exactly the place that it is happening, including the children. Why some people are happy with this war? Of course for some who has profits...'Terrorism' are made by those! PEACE and God bless Afghanistan.

It's Barbaric...Western women weren't treated as sub-human as they are today in Sharia. ...They're weren't stoned to death, forced to wear veils, have to walk behind their men, have their noses or ears cut off, etc.. Many of the things that you are hearing are isolated cases which occur in villages by ignorant and uneducated people. Do you really think 1.4 billion people would ascribe themselves to a belief system which sanctions misogynistic activities such as cutting off ears and noses off of women?

@ShiaAfghan Well not 1.4 billion of course, but there is enough to make me think that it is a religion that should not exist in North America... We have religious freedom, but we also have law that prevents behavior that is condoned in sharia 'typically.' It just doesn't belong here. The extremists won't stop until Sharia has conquered the world and made 'their' peace.. So we responded to prevent it. America would leave if those damn people would quit planting bombs all over..

@unclelight I'm not a conspiracy theorist... I can't bring myself to believe that we went to war to gain profit for some corporations in the defence industry. That's unrealistic to me. I do agree that wars have been about many things like religion, resources, power, land, etc.. I just don't think I buy what your saying on this particular instance..

The US is very possibly approaching a state of total economic collapse and being as capricious and malevolent as the administrations always are... They are unlikely to go quietly. I'm scared of potential false flag "terrorist attacks" in the US and UK- maybe larger than 911 to warrant trying to invade Iran and maybe other countries in the region.
